His success story is one that inspired numerous headline puns in tabloid and news channels in the past few weeks But it's all justified, because Ram, hero of Ready is actually raring and "ready" to take on Tollywood.
Ram has been around for a while, but it is only now that he is become so popular. While his debut Devadasu was a silent hit in Tollywood, it was Jagadam that got him noticed and won him critics appreciation. His latest flick Ready is the biggest hit of this year, according to the industry.
Ram attributes his on screen success to his uncle Sravanthi Ravi Kishore, a popular producer in Tollywood. This young hero already has two fan associations dedicated to him.
Unlike many heroes, Ram claims that he has no dream roles. "My success formula is to choose a variety of roles. I wish to do versatile roles and want to be seen differently every movie I do," he says.
This Telugu lad who has lived all his life in Chennai says, "Since I grew up in Chennai, I watched very few Telugu films." He was still in college when he was offered a role in Devadasu. "I was studying in my Intermediate second year when I took up the role. But now, I have no plans of pursuing my studies at the moment as I'm busy with all the film offers," he says.
But Ram doesn't count himself among the rest of the Tollywood brigade who are often seen partying every night in the city. "I don't drink and smoke. I don't dance in public places," he says.
With all eyes in the industry on him and producers queuing up to cast him, Ram is being very selective in choosing his movies. His next movie titled Masaka which also stars Hansika is expected to hit theaters sometime after October.
However, he says Genelia is his personal favorite. "She is an exuberant actress. I liked her movie Bommarillu. It was a great experience working with her. She is very co-operative and professional." says Ram.
This current heartthrob wanted to be an actor since his childhood and has some big plans for the future too. "I want to be remembered as the best actor in the industry five years from now," he exclaims.
He attributes the success of Ready to the hilarious scenes in the second half of the movie. "The movie has a lot of comic scenes which will leave you in splits. Ready is truly an entertaining film and I think that's what the audience wants these days," says Ram.
With one of the biggest hits of the year to his credit and some good roles in his kitty, Ram is all set to take on the Telugu film industry.
